Get to grips with the Boots No7 foundation shades range with our guide to the various colours, numbers plus why it’s so confusing
UPDATE: There’s a new Boots No7 foundation in town, the first from the No7 Pro Artist range called Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation.
As the name suggests, it’s a lightweight, sheer option that’s a great option for mature skin, of if you prefer a more natural, radiant finish.
It’s priced similarly to the rest of the No7 foundation range, at £19.95 for 30ml and promises 24-hour wear. What’s more, it contains ingredients including Vitamin C to help brighten, Vitamin E to support the moisture barrier and hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration.
We’ve been using this foundation for the past few days and the texture is light and silky, blends well and doesn’t leave a greasy feel. We plan to publish a longer review when we’ve put it to the test properly.
No7 says 99% of users found it weightless and easy to apply, and early reviews are glowing. To learn more, click the button below or keep scrolling to uncover how to manage the No7 foundation shade range.

Original Boots No7 foundation shades guide continues below
Boots No7 foundation shades are, to put it frankly, a mess. There are a handful of consistent shades across the range but the majority are only available in one or two of the foundations.
This means that if you know your shade in one foundation, it doesn’t guarantee it will be available in another. There are shades that are exclusive to a single foundation and don’t give any indication as to what undertone it will suit.
The numbering used to rank No7 foundation shades goes in the opposite direction to other brands – lighter shades have higher numbers and vice versa. Usually, a shade labelled 1 is fair, and a shade labelled 6 is high. With Boots foundations, a shade that starts with a 6 is Fair. A shade that starts with a 1 is Deep.
And that’s if you’re lucky enough to know the number…some product pages show the numbers, and some don’t. Some show swatches, others don’t.
This makes finding the best No7 foundation shade a bit of a minefield.
To make the whole process a little less daunting we’ve put together a guide to all of the No7 foundation shades from an easy-to-use matrix to a shade table and undertone list.
Hopefully this helps. Boots has a habit of adding and changing formulas so the shades are correct at the time of writing and we’ll be updating this page as and when a change is noticed.
SHOP NO7 FACE RANGE
There are around 70 shades across the No7 foundation range – but most are only available in one or two products. Some shades are exclusive to a single formula, while others don’t indicate what undertone they suit.
This means if you wear a 610W Calico in one foundation, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll find it in another. It also means that someone with deep skin might need a shade labelled “100” while fairer tones start in the 600s.
The No7 foundation shade colour chart below lists each of the No7 foundation shades in order from light to dark with their corresponding numbers and undertones (where available). We’ve then mapped these shades to the relevant foundations.
